Consumer rights workshop 04/10/2008

Yesterday, the Baton Rouge office held a workshop for its consumers about people with disabilities and their rights. The first part of the workshop was a presentation by Kenesha Antoine, with the Advocacy Center, informing our clients and their caregivers about their voting rights, how to register, what accessibility features are available to them, and how to report problems. The second part of the workshop was presented by Cindy Ardoin, with LaCAN. The main topic of discussion was the upcoming Disability Rights Day, on April 23. She also encouraged GCTFS consumers to become self-advocate and defend their rights. The workshop was very informative and empowering for both staff and clients.
