GCTFS Staff Locked up for a Good Cause 04/05/2010
Gulf Coast Teaching Family Services is very involved in the community and does not hesitate to help out other non-profit organizations whenever possible. On Wednesday, March 31st, Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) conducted a lock-up fundraiser in Houma, collecting funds to send youngsters to MDA Summer Camp. Bill Andrews, HMIS System Administrator at GCTFS, agreed to be one of the "jail birds".
He was arrested by the Houma Police Department on Wednesday, March 31st around 11:30 a.m. and taken to the Castalano's "Jail". During his incarceration, Bill called family, friends, co-workers and other contacts to raise his bail money. Bill was able to raise $256, which was really great, but not enough to meet his bail. Luckily, he got a "Get out of jail free" card and he is back at the office!
