Requirements of Therapeutic Foster Care Families
- Minimum age is 21; maximum age is 60
- Two parent-families are preferred, but single parents must have a certified alternate care giver
- At least one care giver must be available at all times (flexible job)
- Education:
- College degree, or
- High School Diploma, two years college with two years experience in specialized field, or
- Four years work experience/parenting of children with special needs
- Fingerprints (criminal background check, OCS, State, FBI)
- Home study
- Training (initial and on-going)
- Physical exam
- Participate in all meetings (FTC, medical, psychological, etc.)
- Cooperate with family visits
- Keep accurate records (monthly report of activities, incidents)
- Work directly with GCTFS worker, OCS worker, school and other identified care givers
- Participate in the devising of child's treatment plan and the implementation of identified goals and objectives
