Free Text Relay for people with hearing loss or speech disabilities


Requirements of Therapeutic Foster Care Families
  • Minimum age is 21; maximum age is 60
  • Two parent-families are preferred, but single parents must have a certified alternate care giver
  • At least one care giver must be available at all times (flexible job)
  • Education:
    • College degree, or
    • High School Diploma, two years college with two years experience in specialized field, or
    • Four years work experience/parenting of children with special needs
  • Fingerprints (criminal background check, OCS, State, FBI)
  • Home study
  • Training (initial and on-going)
  • Physical exam
  • Participate in all meetings (FTC, medical, psychological, etc.)
  • Cooperate with family visits
  • Keep accurate records (monthly report of activities, incidents)
  • Work directly with GCTFS worker, OCS worker, school and other identified care givers
  • Participate in the devising of child's treatment plan and the implementation of identified goals and objectives
